Tracy Hanson had a successful All-American Collegiate golf career at San Jose State University that included 11 Individual tournament wins, an NCAA Team Championship, and a USGA Public Links Championship. She played professionally all over the world and enjoyed 15 successful seasons on the Ladies Professional Golf Tour before retiring in 2009.

Within a year of stepping away from the performance expectations of professional golf, Tracy embarked on a new journey. A journey that has included unpacking the truth about harm she experienced as a child, embracing her beauty as a woman of God, and a growing passion to live more deeply from her heart. The redemptive work in Tracy’s life has given birth to Out of the Rough Ministries where she shares her talents and story with men, women and young people who are looking for hope in their own lives.

Tracy teaches that our lives are in a state of movement toward something. Often that something is laced with expectations around what we do instead of honoring who we are. Within this crisis of identity our hopes, dreams, longings, pain, and disappointment can get buried behind the mask of performance, leaving us feeling empty and unworthy.

Tracy believes every person has a unique story and she has an ability to engage in other's 'crisis of identity' by walking into their stories with kindness and care. Through mentoring, discipleship, small group experiences and speaking engagements, Tracy and her team offer a safe community where God’s love and healing leads people into the abundant life that Jesus offers.

Tracy is also uniquely gifted to bridge the game of golf and story through golf clinics, outings, special speaking events, chapels, Bible study and more. This aspect of Out of the Rough Ministries allows athletes and sports chaplains to talk honestly about the pain and harm experienced in their life stories for the purpose of embracing their dignity and worth apart from their performance.

One of her favorite quotes is; “To be ignorant of one’s past is like an eagle forever being imprisoned in a cage.”

Tracy’s hobbies include facilitating trips to the Holy Land, riding her motorcycle, spending time outdoors, running and reading. She is a gifted writer and along with her own blog, writes monthly devotionals for Links Players International and is a guest writer for redtentliving.com. Tracy is a trained leader for Open Hearts Ministry Journey groups and has completed The Allender Center Lay Counseling Certificate Program.
